Karma grew up in Aotearoa (New Zealand) where she received a Degree at Wellington’s TLC, School of Art and Creativity and is currently pursuing a Masters in Arts Therapy in Australia.
Karma’s artworks and projects have spanned the fields of fine-arts, installation work, multi-media, textiles, masks and performance art and have been exhibited in New Zealand, Australia, Europe, and Latin America.
"I have traveled extensively throughout Latin America, Canada, Asia, India and the South Pacific and find myself at home with local cultures by participating, and through this learning and relating gain insight into the beautiful diverse spectrum of life, which strongly influences the work I do. These experiences inform and extend the universal themes of my work, drawing upon ancient and time honored techniques combined with modern mediums and concepts.
My intention is to research the collective responsibility of the artist and the higher purpose of art which traditionally has acted as a vehicle for the highest human potential and healing and to create and facilitate work that inspires and supports all of us in a beautiful way, reawakening the ceremonial relationship to life that lies within all of us. Art is a ceremony of life".. ".
Recent works, Imagine the Land, include collaborative projects stemming from an artist residency at the El Hayelo center of Colombia, where a series of site-specific installations works in the desert of Villa de Leyva were developed. The Imagine the Land project now currently works in Australia and New Zealand.
Karma is available to teach and facilitate art processes including Imagine the Land Installations, community arts programs and textile workshops. She is currently working between Australia and New Zealand.
